Stool selection is important because they come in many different sizes, so make a note of where it is going to be placed and that will assist in identifying the stool with the best height. The bottom of the counter or table should be 10 to 13 inches above the stool seat.

Be sure to budget for enough barstools for the area as well. A spacing of about 25 to 30 inches from the middle of one seat to the next is optimum for bar stools. Take the total length of your counter, divide by twenty-eight, that should give you a reasonable estimate of the total chairs you are looking for.
